Booking Information

Please make sure you have read, understand and agree with this information before booking your tattoo.

  • Deposits must be paid at the time of booking. This ensures your commitment and covers the time I spend booking you in and designing your tattoo. (I will send payment instructions when you book your appointment).

Deposit amounts are deducted from the total price of your tattoo.

Deposits are valid for 12 months and are non-refundable and non-transferable.

    • 5+ hour/full day - $400 deposit

    • Half day session - $200 deposit

    • 1-2 hour session - $100 deposit

Important- please only pay the required deposit amount. I’m unable to keep track of any additional payments.

  • If you need to reschedule please provide 2 days minimum notice.

Without proper notice I may not be able to fill your spot, resulting in a loss of income for me. Late cancellation will forfeit your deposit.

Rescheduling more than twice will require a new deposit.

If I need to reschedule your appointment this will not affect your deposit.

  • The cost of your tattoo will be quoted at the time of booking and is a set price based on how long your appointment will take (with the exception of larger projects).

For small pieces this is a rate of $180 per hour. Longer appointments are slightly discounted.

    Minimum set up fee $180

    Half day $550

    Full day $1000

To get a quote for your tattoo please submit an enquiry form.

  • I am unable to provide a set quote for large (multiple sitting) projects as there are too many variables. Day rate/half day rates will apply for each sitting.

An upfront deposit of $400 is required for all large projects and is only deducted off the final session when the tattoo is complete.

  • Appointment times and prices are based on how long I think your tattoo will take. This is usually pretty accurate, however - sometimes we run over time.

This is usually due to factors such as:

    • Skin texture - some skin is harder to tattoo than others and requires extra time/care.

    • Pain tolerance - if you’re finding it hard to sit still this can make the process a lot slower.

    • Extra time spent making changes to the design/stencil/placement.

    • Design ends up being a lot bigger than quoted.

I allow an extra 30min of time (free of charge) for any appointments that need a little bit longer. Anything over this amount may require another appointment/additional cost.

  • Deposit payments must be made via bank transfer (I will send instructions at the time of booking).

At the end of your appointment you will need to pay the remainder of the balance.

    • Our studio has eftpos available for your convenience.

    • Cash is also accepted. Please note there is no ATM available nearby.

We don’t currently offer payment plans.

  • When you arrive at your appointment I will have a line-drawing of your design ready for your approval.

Consultation time is included in your appointment, so no worries if you want to make any small changes/adjustments to the design. I will work with you until we are both 100% happy with the design before we make it permanent.

    • Please let me know of any specific details you want in your design at the time of booking.

    • If you've changed your idea please let me know at least 3 days prior to your appointment. This allows me time to reschedule or allow for more/less time if your tattoo idea has changed dramatically.

    • I do not send out sketches prior to your appointment (often I draw up each design the day before the appointment).

  • If you’re running late to your appointment please let me know.

More than 15min late with no contact may result in the loss of your appointment/ deposit.

I will try to let you know as early as possible if my day is running behind schedule.

  • Please do not bring anyone with you to your appointment (unless discussed with me prior).

Extra people walking around/ talking in the studio is distracting to our artists and unfair to other clients who may need privacy.

Group bookings and clients under 18 needing parental consent are the only exceptions.

  • Dark Days Tattoo and Art Studio, 48 Gill Street, New Plymouth.

Please try to find parking that allows enough time for your full appointment (I recommend either Centre City or under the Warehouse).

  • If you are unwell on your appointment day please reschedule

Tattooing affects the immune system, you do not want your body to be under any additional stress during your session (or during healing).

  • Please do not use numbing cream before coming to your appointment. This has a tendency to wear off and cause more pain in the long run. It also makes the skin harder to tattoo and can affect the healing of your tattoo.

  • It is super important to me that you feel safe and comfortable during your appointment. Please communicate if you have any concerns, need breaks or if you're feeling unwell.

Please refrain from touching your fresh tattoo with your hands, or resting your fresh tattoo on any (unwrapped) furniture in the studio. This is a cross-contamination risk and can also introduce harmful bacteria into what is essentially an open wound.

  • Every tattoo comes with a free touchup (within six months of original work). Anything after six months will be charged.

Hands and feet have a different texture skin to the rest of your body. This area often requires more than one touchup and never heals as clean as other areas. Your first touchup will be free, any after this will be charged.

  • Unfortunately you cannot be tattooed during these times as there is a greater risk of infection.

  • If you are under 18 years of age you will need to bring a parent/guardian with you to your appointment to sign for you.

How to prepare for your tattoo

  • Please lightly exfoliate and moisturise the tattoo area during the weeks leading up to your appointment. This will make the skin easier to work with, and you will get a better result.

  • You do not need to shave the area before coming to your session, I will do this for you. Do not wax your skin prior to your appointment.

  • Do not get sunburned in the weeks prior to your appointment.

  • Please do not apply moisturiser on the day of your appointment.

  • Please refrain from using fake tan the week leading up to your appointment.

  • I recommend having a good nights sleep and a healthy breakfast/meal before coming to your appointment so your body has the energy it needs to cope with getting a tattoo.

  • Wear clothing that is comfortable, provides easy access to the tattoo area and you don’t mind getting ink on. Feel free to chat to me about what to wear or if you have ANY concerns about any areas of your body being exposed.

  • Do not drink excess amounts of alcohol 24 hours prior to your appointment.

  • Bring lunch/snacks and a water bottle with you if it’s a longer session.
